Digital Broadcast Applications

The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS is one of about 60 application-oriented institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft with the aim of providing a technological basis for innovative products.

For our department Audio we are looking for

Interns and Student Assistants (f/m)

in the area ‘Digital Broadcast Applications’
 

The research institute Fraunhofer IIS gained international recognition in the area of audio coding and audio signal processing and is leading in the development of most advanced audio coding techniques like mp3 and AAC. In the Audio and Multimedia research division a team of about 120 engineers focuses on the development of audio-visual solutions and applications, for example in the area digital broadcast.

Your tasks performed in teams

• Development of protocol and application encoders in C/C++, Java and Perl, mostly under Linux
• Development of protocol and application decoders in C/C++ for various target platforms (PC, PDA/smartphones, embedded)
• Preparation and assembly of equipment for digital broadcast applications
• Test and documentation of existing implementations

You should have

• Computer Science, information and communication technologies and electrical engineering studies preferred
• Programming knowledge in C/C++, additional knowledge in Perl und Java is welcome
• Willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics independently
• Willingness to work independently
• Experience in dealing with computer as well as audio hardware
• Good knowledge of the Linux operating system
• Good knowledge of German and English language
• Flexibility and eagerness to work in new technologies

The average working time for student assistants is 8-12 hours per week (flexible time and day according to your studies), fulltime internship for 6-12 months.
